The main advantage for this particularly "unofficial" guide to Stanford is its capabilities as a wiki. Because of this particular format, any and every student who wants to change what's posted has to capabilities to do so, and there is no committee or even single person who decides what gets put on the site. Also, students do not just have to cope with the material with which they are presented; if they have questions about additional topics they can ask them, or if they think there are more that should be covered they can do so as well.

Other Sites

The two sites that I chose to examine are not so much competitors as they are supplementary sites. The fact that there is no place for Stanford students to post their own thoughts on the school is the inspiration for this site. While these sites do present facts (and, in the case of The Unofficial Guide, opinions disguised as facts), their material has been selected and edited by specific individuals and may not be what people are actually interested in knowing. Their value as sources, however, cannot be denied, so it is advised that readers of this site look them over but, like the opinions offered on this one, not take anything at face value.
